Message From Principal Teresa Gingrave

Dear Families,

We are excited to celebrate “Start with Hello Week” at Joel School! This week is for any school or community organization that wants to create a culture of kindness and belonging. We will kick off on the 21st with community partners who will join us in greeting the children in the morning. Throughout the week, children will engage in various classroom lessons during their SEL (Social Emotional Learning) block. Grounded in the lessons is this message:

We have a full schedule as described in this handout, with Wednesday being Wear Green Wednesday as a symbol of unity. Also, feel free to watch this parent video resource on reducing social isolation.

Student Shout Outs: Every morning, we will do student shout-outs from school.

Feel free to send us home shout-outs as well, and we will read them in the morning.

A MESSAGE FROM ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT MARCO FAMIGLIETTI REGARDING THE ROLE OF AI IN TEACHING AND LEARNING:

I hope your children are off to a great start this school year. I am writing to share our Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Clinton Public Schools, designed to help students, staff, and parents where and when AI can support teaching and learning.

Since early 2024, CPS has carefully examined AI's role in education. Through a district AI Study Group of staff and students, extensive research and professional development, as well as updates to the Board of Education, we developed these Guidelines to balance innovation with ethical, responsible use.

The Guidelines cover district expectations, student privacy, academic integrity, and examples of appropriate AI use for students, staff, and families. They also offer practical advice for discussing AI with your children to ensure it supports, rather than replaces, their learning.

Please visit the district website for additional AI resources and tips. Working together will help our students become thoughtful, responsible users of AI. Feel free to contact your child’s teacher or our office with any questions.
